PC Assist Warranty & Returns Policy

Unfortunately, super stores and Internet merchants have reduced their prices by severely limiting Warranty, Support and Return policies. Current industry standards are for the warranty to be supported directly between the customer and the manufacturer’s technical support department. The reseller, such as PC Assist, is only responsible for accepting returns of “out of the box” defective items for a short period of time after the sale. In order to maintain competitive prices, we must adopt those policies except where noted below.  We will always handle a warranty issue with the manufacturer for you for a small fee. We also offer extended warranties on many items for a small fee at the time of purchase.

Warranties and returns for computers built by PC Assist.

Modification of computer by any party other than PC Assist may void warranty. Damage caused by viruses, bios updates and electrical surges voids warranty. Accessories such as monitors, speakers, printers are not included in computer warranty.

Returns: Computers may not be returned except as provided for in warranties below.

Note: PC Assist may decide to repair or replace computer or issue refund. Customer responsible for delivering computer to PC Assist unless On Site Warranty applies. Onsite warranties only available within 20 miles of PC Assist office. PC Assist reserves right to perform work at customer site or pickup and deliver computer at their discretion.

Standard computer warranty. 1 year parts and labor.

 

3 year Extended Warranty. Extends standard warranty to 3 years total.

1 year onsite. Provide onsite service for 1 year (add on to standard 1 year parts and labor warranty.

3 year onsite. Extends standard parts and labor warranty to 3 years total plus provides onsite service for 3 years.

Warranties and returns for Acer Desktop and Laptop Computers

All warranty support provided by Acer. PC Assist will ship computer to Acer for warranty repair.

Warranty and returns on products other than computers.

Special order items (any item which PC Assist normally doesn’t stock ordered on customer request):

No returns will be accepted. Customer must request all warranty support directly from manufacturer.

 

Accessories not requiring installation inside computer:

Returns: Within 15 days of purchase, customer may return products for refund or exchange. All packaging, manuals, driver disks etc. must be returned with the product. Items damaged by the customer during installation may not be returned to PC Assist.

 

Parts Installed inside the computer case by PC Assist:

1 year parts and labor. Same as for computers built by PC Assist. Customer responsible for delivering computer to PC Assist. Customer may purchase warranty upgrades, same as for new computers, at PC Assist’s discretion. Warranty upgrades must be purchased at time of repair. Upgraded warranty only applies to parts installed by PC Assist. Customer may not return items requiring installation except for warranty issues.

 

Parts which require installation inside the computer case, and which are not installed by PC Assist.

The customer must deal directly with the manufacturer for any free technical support. PC Assist will charge for any technical support at their normal labor rates. 

PC Assist will not accept returns of parts which require installation. Returns of defective parts must be handled by customer directly with manufacturer.

 

Software:

Within 15 days of purchase, customer may return software or refund or exchange only if it is unopened.

 

Labor:

Unfortunately, computers and software are extremely complex and no technician can successfully solve every problem on their first try. For that reason we cannot always offer warranty on labor. We will always attempt to be fair to our customers. If you have concerns please ask about warranty before any work is performed and ask to have any warranty in writing on your copy of the signed work order.

 

Following are warranty options available at the time of purchase of the item covered.

No Extended Warranty

PC Assist will contact the manufacturer on the customer’s behalf, perform diagnostics, and process returns to the vendor.

$20 plus reimbursement of any freight and fees charged by the manufacturer.

Plus trip charge if onsite

During the life of manufacturer warranty, PC Assist will handle warranty service with manufacturer including freight charges. Any charges, other than freight, charged by manufacturer is passed on to customer. PC Assist will install replacement item in customer's computer at PC Assist repair shop.

 10% of purchase price. Manufacturer fees must be paid at time of return.

2 year replacement

PC Assist will replace the damaged item for up to 2 years from date of purchase with a working replacement (new or used) of equal or greater function.
